Brookside's two Suttles pad wells now move to completion, with no start date given
Brookside Energy has finished drilling Sabres and Whalers in Oklahoma and says it is preparing to complete and stimulate both wells, but it has not said when that work will start.
Brookside Energy (ASX: BRK) is preparing to complete and stimulate two newly drilled oil wells in Oklahoma, the next step before they can be turned to sales. On 3 September 2026 it said it would "now progress preparations for the completion and stimulation of both wells". Both wells will use a zipper-frac configuration.
The wells are Sabres 2-1-1S-3W SXH1 and Whalers 2-1-1S-3W WXH2, on the Suttles pad in the SWISH Area of Interest in the Anadarko Basin. Brookside holds an approximate 70% working interest in both.
What is uncertain
- Timing: The company has not given a start date for stimulation or a date for first sales. Its 5 and 19 August updates said only that the wells would be stimulated simultaneously once Whalers was drilled and cased.
- Results: No production figures exist yet, so the wells' output is unknown.
- Costs: The company says its focus is to "control costs", but the inputs give no budget.
Where the wells stand
Sabres reached its planned total measured depth of about 14,200 feet in the Sycamore Formation. Its 5½-inch production casing was run, cemented and pressure tested. The rig then moved to Whalers, which targets the Woodford Formation. On 3 September the company announced the Suttles pad drilling program as completed.
Why it matters for what Brookside holds
The wells sit in SWISH, the asset where Brookside's most recent reserve estimate applies: 3.3409 million barrels of oil (P50), stated 29 May 2025, with a 90% company interest. The wells' 70% interest is lower than that. If the wells produce, they would test how that area performs, though the inputs do not say whether they would change the estimate.
The company's other listed assets rest on much older figures, dated between 2007 and 2014. They include Big River (15 million barrels of oil and 89.1 bcf of gas reserves, P50, stated 2014) and Mississippian holdings (67% interest, stated 2013). For Simpson Sands, the company's interest is not disclosed. Those older figures may not reflect current conditions.
Brookside says it will provide further updates as operations progress.
