23 Oct 2018resource reserve update▲ GoodMajor

IAMGOLD's Boto feasibility study shows better economics than the February 2018 pre-feasibility study: after-tax IRR of 23% (was 13.3%), NPV of $261M at 6% and $1,250/oz (was $104M), payback 3.4 years, and initial capital of $254M (was $249M). Proven and probable reserves rise by 0.51Moz to 1.93Moz, with a 12.8-year mine life and average output of 140,000 oz/yr. This delivers the feasibility study that was due in H2 2018. The company says no final investment decision has been made and permitting remains; a mining concession application is planned for Q4 2018, with approval expected in H1 2019.

IAMGOLD reported first 2018 assay results from Nelligan in Quebec (12 holes, 4,471 m), with intercepts such as 56.6 m at 1.81 g/t gold and 39.9 m at 1.38 g/t gold. Results from 20 more holes (8,889 m) are pending. The company says it hopes to reach an initial resource estimate in the future, which continues the maiden-resource aim for Nelligan. The release also states the project is a joint venture with Vanstar (IAMGOLD 51%, Vanstar 49%), with an option to earn a further 24% for C$2.75M in cash payments plus a resource report before March 2022.

20 July 2018resource reserve update● Neutral

IAMGOLD's news release says it has filed the technical report for the Essakane heap leach pre-feasibility study announced June 5, 2018. The one new point is that the report's resources and reserves include depletion from Jan 1 to June 5, 2018, whereas the June 5 release figures were before depletion; no adjusted figures are given. It otherwise duplicates the report filing.

IAMGOLD reported a pre-feasibility study for a heap leach addition at Essakane in Burkina Faso (the Heap Leach PFS expected in Q2 2018). Probable reserves rise 39% (1.3M oz) to 4.7M oz on a 100% basis, with an 8.5-year mine life, average output of 480,000 oz a year once heap leach runs, all-in sustaining cost of $946/oz and initial heap leach capital of $155M. A feasibility study is now underway for completion in Q1 2019, and a Gossey maiden resource is now guided for Q4 2018. The company says higher-grade drill intercepts accounted for more than a third of the reserve increase.

IAMGOLD filed an amended technical report (dated May 17, 2018) for the Monster Lake maiden resource, replacing the May 9 version. The filing says no technical change was made; the report is now addressed to both IAMGOLD and TomaGold, with minor edits, and the filing says these are not a material change. The resource itself (433,300 oz inferred, reported Mar 28) is unchanged.

IAMGOLD reported a first-time inferred resource for Eastern Borosi in Nicaragua, a joint venture it holds 51% of with Calibre Mining (49%). Total inferred is 4,418,000 tonnes at 4.93 g/t gold for 700,500 oz of gold and 11.36M oz of silver (effective Mar 15, 2018, at US$1,500/oz gold). This delivers the maiden resource that was being initiated for 2018. IAMGOLD vested its 51% in 2017 and has now entered a second option to earn a further 19% by paying US$450,000 and spending US$5M more. A 6,000 m drilling program has started, with up to 10,000 m possible if results warrant.

IAMGOLD reported the first resource estimate for Monster Lake in Quebec: 1,109,700 tonnes of inferred resource at 12.14 g/t for 433,300 oz of gold (effective Feb 26, 2018, at US$1,300/oz). This delivers the maiden resource that the February 2018 statement said was being initiated for 2018. The release gives the project split as IAMGOLD 50%, TomaGold 45% and Quinto Resources 5% on the claims block. A 2018 program of about 7,500 m of drilling has started, and a supporting technical report is due within 45 days.

IAMGOLD reported the remaining Phase II drilling results at Saramacca in Suriname (60 holes, about 14,360 m; the full program was 97 holes, 24,282 m). Best intercepts were 46.0 m at 11.73 g/t and 15.0 m at 22.90 g/t gold. The company is building an updated resource model and still expects reserve status in 2018 and production in 2019. About 50,000 m of drilling is planned for 2018, including the Brokolonko concession. The Phase II program ended up larger than the 22,000 m stated in November, and the 2018 plan is new.

IAMGOLD published the pre-feasibility study for its 100%-owned Boto gold project in Senegal: 13.5-year mine life, nearly 100,000 oz a year, initial capital of $249M, and all-in sustaining costs of $829/oz. At $1,275/oz gold it shows an after-tax return of 13.3% and a value of $104M (6% discount rate). The CEO says it is still short of the company's usual investment criteria for West Africa. The 1.4M oz reserve (1.415M oz probable) matches the figure in the Feb 12 year-end statement, and the feasibility study is due in H2 2018 with a 25% higher mill rate.

13 Feb 2018resource reserve update▲ GoodMajor

IAMGOLD's year-end 2017 statement shows attributable reserves up 86% to 14.5M oz (from 7.8M oz), mainly from converting resources to reserves at Côté Gold and Boto after pre-feasibility studies, plus the Rosebel increase announced in July. Measured and indicated resources rose 6% to 24.7M oz and inferred rose 44% to 8.8M oz, with 2017 attributable production of 882,000 oz. Côté's feasibility study is now expected in the first half of 2019, when a construction decision will be taken (earlier guidance was H2 2018). The Saramacca initial reserve is now guided for the second half of 2018 (earlier H1 2018). The release also notes Sadiola's sulphide project awaits an agreement with Mali's government, and that IAMGOLD was granted the Brokolonko concession near Saramacca on Jan 24, 2018.

31 Jan 2018drilling result▲ Good

IAMGOLD reported 2017 drilling results from the Diakha deposit at its wholly owned Siribaya project in Mali (105 holes, 19,520 m), with best intercepts of 18.0 m at 11.06 g/t and 26.0 m at 6.79 g/t gold. The company says the drilling extended mineralization north and south, nearly doubling the strike length, and it aims for a resource of 2 million ounces. About 15,000 m of drilling is planned for 2018 with an updated resource estimate expected by year-end 2018. The current resource quoted is unchanged (129,000 oz indicated, 1.1M oz inferred).

16 Nov 2017drilling result▲ Good

IAMGOLD reported more results from its post-resource drilling at Saramacca in Suriname (37 holes, 9,553 m of a 22,000 m program), with best intercepts of 57.0 m at 2.56 g/t and 39.0 m at 3.47 g/t in infill holes, and 34.5 m at 4.50 g/t in an expansion hole. The company says the drilling extends mineralization below the initial resource pit shell, but the first step-out holes along strike to the northwest and southeast did not hit significant mineralization. It still targets reserve status in 2018 and production in 2019. The ESIA, mine design, geotechnical and metallurgical work continue. The planned program is now stated as 22,000 m (earlier about 20,000 m).

1 Nov 2017drilling result● Neutral

IAMGOLD reported results from three summer 2017 drill holes (1,836 m) at Monster Lake in Quebec, the project it holds 50% of with TomaGold. The best were 4.7 m at 2.14 g/t gold (Megane Zone) and 2.4 m at 7.42 g/t (Lower Shear Zone), much lower grade than the winter holes reported in July. A winter 2018 program is being planned, and the company is assessing whether an initial resource estimate is warranted by year-end, so the earlier 'possible' year-end resource is now less firm. The release repeats the August TomaGold share purchase and the option to reach 75%.
