10 July 2014resource reserve update▲ GoodMajor
EPC 1399 resource updated to 1,504Mt Inferred (JORC 2012), lifting Blackall's combined total to 3.44Bt. The earlier 440Mt Idalia figure is superseded for 1399; EPC 1398 stays at 200Mt. A new 2.0-2.5Bt exploration target is also reported. Shares 2c.
Drilling began on Idalia's EPCs 1398 and 1399, which adjoin Blackall. Plan: five or six more core holes on 1399 within two months, then 30 core and 26 chip holes on 1398 over about six months, toward a combined resource. Shares fell to 4.8c.
SRK's new JORC resource for Blackall is 1.74Bt: 627Mt Indicated and 1,113Mt Inferred, to 150m depth. That is about 1Bt above the 2011 figure of 749Mt, and resolves the long-delayed combined report. The 1.8-2.0Bt target is not yet fully covered.
EER says its exploration drilling at Blackall finished in February 2012, with over 350 holes drilled. It keeps the 1.8-2.0Bt target; in-house modelling indicates a big rise over the 749Mt resource, with SRK's updated resource expected April/May 2012. A scoping study is planned.
Alambi drilling has finished 12 RAB holes (1,562m) and 30 core holes, with a JORC Inferred resource for Alambi expected in Q4 2011. Only the lower half of the Alambi deposit has been explored so far.
Full Xenith resource report released, showing 459Mt Indicated for southern Blackall (the April announcement said 469Mt; the text does not explain the difference). The Mineral Development Licence application has been lodged, with approval expected in 6 to 12 months.
Maiden JORC Indicated resource of 469Mt at Blackall's Carlow deposit, within a total of 749Mt, covering about 15% of the tenement to 150m depth. This is a smaller, firmer figure than the earlier 1.2Bt Inferred; MDL application to follow.
A final row of core holes along Blackall's western edge, recommended by Xenith, is about two weeks from done. The maiden Indicated resource release moves from Q1 to April 2011; the MDL application follows it.
Southern infill drilling at Blackall is complete and core samples are at the lab, so Xenith can finalise the Indicated resource. A consultant is engaged for the Mineral Development Licence application, to be lodged once the resource report arrives.
Southern Blackall drilling restarted on 12 January after a six-week flood suspension. Management aims to finish the next resource modelling stage by the end of the March quarter, though further wet-weather delays are possible.
Floods suspended southern Blackall drilling with about 12 sites still to drill. The updated Xenith JORC report, previously aimed at December 2010, is delayed until Q1 2011.
A 3,000m core drilling program began in northern Blackall, now named the Allambi deposit; the first hole hit five seams at 30-55m. The target is a further 800Mt Inferred, which could lift the total beyond 2.0 billion tonnes.
Washability tests on the 350kg Blackall bulk sample gave a washed coal yield of about 70% and 6,755 kcal/kg calorific value, with low sulphur. This was the awaited result; management calls it encouraging, and further lab tests continue.
A bulk sample of over 350kg was taken from five seams at 15-24m depth for washability testing, with results due in about four weeks. Southern drilling has reached 95 core holes, with seams up to 7.2m thick, and should finish by end September 2010 for an Indicated resource.
Southern Blackall now has 67 core holes (32 new), with lab results due within weeks. Management expects sufficient drilling for an Indicated resource by end of Q4 2010 and says northern results may add another large resource.
Eighteen northern holes show coal seams continuing north, adding about 14km of strike length, with fresh coal at 12-15m. Management says the resource could conceivably exceed 2.0 billion tonnes, up from 1.2 billion, subject to detailed evaluation.
Northern Blackall drilling began after a delay from January-February floods. The first eight holes hit coal seams continuing from the south, so the program grew from 12 to 20 holes. SRK is to use the data to extend the 1.2 billion tonne Inferred resource.
Drilling restarted at Blackall (EPC 1149) the week before, covering the unexplored northern section and tighter spacing in the south, to upgrade the 1.2 billion tonne Inferred resource. A further geologist, Dr Aldo van Heeswijck, was hired.
The 16-hole Capella program (100-150m deep, about 4km apart) hit no coal. The board will drop the Capella tenement (EPC 1066) and refocus on Blackall, aiming to upgrade the 1.2 billion tonne Inferred resource to Indicated.
Exploration drilling has started at the Capella tenement (EPC 1066), a sparse program designed to decide whether more drilling is warranted. The company says it will then turn back to the northern half of Blackall.
The board approved a first program of 17 shallow RAB holes (about 150m) at the Capella tenement (formerly Norwich Park), now 179 sub-blocks, to start within weeks. The managing director says it will only decide whether further drilling is needed.
Headline confirms a 1.2 billion tonne maiden resource for the Blackall project, the JORC resource guided since 2008. The body text is mostly unreadable, so detail comes from later reports: an Inferred figure of about 1,222Mt, due to the delay to April.
Company lifts its non-JORC Blackall target to 500-550Mt from 200-220Mt after over 200 RAB and 40 core holes; 2008 drilling is complete. Company says this is conceptual; a JORC resource is due in early 2009.
Final-stage Blackall drilling is underway and early coal quality results are arriving, including very low sulfur. A maiden JORC resource (inferred, indicated, measured) is now guided for Q1 2009. Blended coal is expected to average about 5,000 kcal.
Coring at Blackall is going well, with 52 core samples sent to ALS in Emerald and excellent recovery. Lab results are due within weeks. The 200-220Mt non-JORC target and early-2009 JORC resource timing are unchanged.
Blackall non-JORC mineralisation target raised from 79-90Mt to over 200Mt of thermal coal after stage one drilling. Over 130 RAB holes and 8 core holes done; a JORC resource is expected early next year.
First-phase Blackall drilling finished: 35 RAB holes (2,946m) to 30 June, with coal in 94% of holes and average cumulative seam thickness over 3m. Company believes the 79-90Mt non-JORC target can grow; stage two will add coring.
A second rig has been mobilised at Blackall, after the first rig (started 12 June) hit 3-5m coal seams over a 6km strike. Chairman says it speeds work toward a definite volume. The 79-90Mt figure remains historical and non-JORC.
Drilling began at Blackall on 12 June 2008 with the first rig; all five RAB holes so far intersected coal seams. Starts the programme aimed at a JORC resource, with no grades or thicknesses reported yet.
Notice of Entry forms lodged and purchase orders issued to two drilling contractors for Blackall. Drilling is said to start very shortly, with about six months of drilling intended.
