20 Feb 2024drilling result▲ GoodMajor

Agnico reported Q4 and full-year 2023 results alongside an exploration update. 2023 gold production was a record 3,439,654 ounces, at the top of the 3.24-3.44 million guidance, and free cash flow was $947.4 million. Year-end 2023 gold reserves rose 10.5% to 53.8 million ounces, helped by an initial East Gouldie reserve and the acquisition of the remaining 50% of Canadian Malartic. Q4 had a net loss of $381.0 million including $667 million of impairments at Macassa and Pinos Altos. Guidance for 2024 is 3.35-3.55 million ounces, with capital spending of about $1.65 billion. This delivers on the earlier reserve-growth targets and the Odyssey South and East Gouldie plans.

12 Aug 2022drilling result▲ Good

Agnico Eagle gave a mid-2022 exploration update with drill results at Detour Lake (from the Kirkland merger), East Gouldie/Odyssey, Hope Bay, and the Kirkland Lake region, and approved a supplemental $30 million exploration budget for 2022. Odyssey South pre-commercial production is expected before the end of March 2023 with an initial reserve estimate at year-end 2022; the Upper Beaver study is now expected to be updated in 2023 (earlier expectation was 2022). Year-end 2021 reserves were about 25.7 million ounces for Agnico alone and 18.9 million ounces for Kirkland before the merger. Ammar Al-Joundi is now President and CEO in this release (the merger release named Makuch as CEO), which conflicts with the earlier leadership line; the filing does not explain the change.

2 Nov 2021drilling result▲ Good

Agnico Eagle gave a Q3 2021 exploration update with new drill results, including East Gouldie at Odyssey (Canadian Malartic), where the easternmost hole is 1.5 km east of the current resource, plus Upper Beaver, Meliadine, Amaruq, Hope Bay (seven rigs), Kittila and Santa Gertrudis. It repeats the record ~$163 million 2021 exploration budget (vs $113 million in 2020) and year-end 2020 reserves of 24.1 million ounces. The CEO expects the Upper Beaver results to have a meaningful impact on a 2022 project update. This continues the July exploration update and is separate from the pending Kirkland Lake merger.

12 July 2021drilling result▲ Good

Agnico Eagle gave a mid-2021 exploration update, with new drilling results at East Gouldie (Canadian Malartic's Odyssey project, including a new mineralized horizon about 400 m south), Upper Beaver in Kirkland Lake, Meliadine, Hope Bay, Kittila (deepest intercept at 1,957 m) and Santa Gertrudis. The 2021 exploration budget is about $163 million, up from $113 million in 2020, the largest in the company's history. Year-end 2020 gold reserves were 24.1 million ounces, with 15.3 million ounces measured and indicated and 23.4 million ounces inferred. The Odyssey underground project was approved by the Canadian Malartic partnership in February 2021, building on the 50% joint ownership with Yamana from the 2014 Osisko deal.

6 Sept 2017drilling result▲ Good

Agnico Eagle reported 2017 exploration results, including Amaruq (best hole 8.6 g/t gold over 38.7 metres) and a new Tugak structure 4.5 km west of Whale Tail. It also reported results at Barsele in Sweden, La India and El Barqueno, with reserves and resources at La India and other key projects expected to grow at year-end 2017. It notes the Board approved Amaruq development in February 2017, pending permits, following the earlier resource updates, and gives the December 31, 2016 Amaruq resources as 2.1Moz indicated plus 763koz open pit inferred and 1.4Moz underground inferred.

25 Sept 2015drilling progress report▲ Good

Agnico Eagle reported more drilling at its 100%-owned El Barqueno project in Mexico (best hole 15.49 g/t gold over 3.0 metres at Angostura), extending the Azteca-Zapoteca prospect to 300 metres depth and Peña de Oro to over 800 metres of strike. It now aims to declare a first resource by mid-February 2016 (earlier guidance said near end of 2015), has started conceptual studies for an open pit heap leach operation, and raised 2015 El Barqueno exploration spending to about $22 million from about $15 million. It also says infill drilling at Creston Mascota and La India is expected to increase reserves and resources, La India's at year-end 2015.

21 Aug 2015resource reserve update▲ GoodMajor

Agnico Eagle raised its Amaruq inferred gold resource 35% to 2.0 million ounces (9.7 million tonnes at 6.47 g/t) as of June 30, 2015, up from 1.5 million ounces at the end of 2014. This follows the February 2015 initial estimate, with another update planned for mid-February 2016. Building a satellite mine at Amaruq still needs Board approval, and an all-weather road application and baseline studies are under way.

11 June 2015drilling progress report▲ Good

Agnico Eagle reported further 2015 drilling at Amaruq (best result 19.8 g/t gold over 5.0 metres) and a new mineralized structure about 100 metres north of Whale Tail, plus first drill results at El Barqueno (the Cayden property bought in November 2014). The Soltoro acquisition closed effective June 9, 2015, adding about 30,000 hectares including the El Rayo project next to El Barqueno. An Amaruq resource update is expected near the end of summer and a first El Barqueno resource near end of 2015; the Amaruq February 2015 inferred resource was 1.5 million ounces.

18 Mar 2015resource reserve update● NeutralMajor

Agnico Eagle filed its updated Meliadine technical report, the study the earlier context said was due in late 2014/early 2015. It covers only the 3.3 million ounces of proven and probable reserves, with about 9 years of mine life, initial capital of about $911 million and an after-tax return of about 10.3% at $1,300 gold. Whether to build the mine is still subject to Board approval, with about $64 million of 2015 spending planned; the environmental project certificate was issued February 26, 2015, and the company is working on a water licence application.

13 Nov 2014drilling progress report▲ GoodMajor

Agnico Eagle finished its 2014 Amaruq drilling in mid-October: 144 holes (31,598 metres) and a $10 million field program. The Whale Tail zone is now about 1.2 kilometres long and more than 350 metres deep. The initial resource estimate, previously expected by year-end 2014, is now expected in early 2015, and winter drilling is planned to start in March 2015. The company says grades are roughly two to three times the 2.9 g/t gold mined at Meadowbank so far in 2014.

1 Oct 2014drilling result▲ GoodMajor

Agnico Eagle renamed the IVR discovery near Meadowbank as the Amaruq project and reported its best drill results so far, including 6.1 g/t gold over 55.6 metres at 278 metres depth. It also reports new targets (Boulder Field, Mammoth, Whale Fin), 142 holes drilled to mid-September 2014, and about $9 million of 2014 exploration spending. An initial resource estimate is expected by year-end 2014, and the company is studying how Amaruq could fit into Meadowbank's plan and possibly link with Meliadine. This continues the IVR work, which was planned at a second phase of 20,000 m and is now described as a 25,000-metre program.

14 Aug 2014resource reserve update● NeutralMajor

Agnico Eagle published updated reserves and resources for the Canadian Malartic mine, the 50% stake it gained with Yamana in the June 2014 Osisko deal. Proven and probable reserves are 8.94 million ounces of gold (263.2 million tonnes at 1.06 g/t), and measured and indicated resources are 10.80 million ounces. The figures reflect the combined Agnico and Yamana 50% interests in the mine, not Agnico's share alone. The 5% royalty to Osisko Gold Royalties cut reserves by about 60,000 ounces from Osisko's earlier estimate. The same filing lists a second release announcing a technical report on the mine, but its content is not included here.

1 Aug 2014drilling result▲ Good

Agnico Eagle's mid-2014 exploration update reports an expanding IVR discovery 50 km northwest of Meadowbank (best hole 27.6 g/t gold over 3.0 metres) with a second 20,000-metre drilling phase starting. It also says Meliadine drilling should expand resources, with an updated technical study expected in late 2014 or early 2015, and that a deep Kittila hole shows the Suuri zone remains open below 1,340 metres. Akasaba West is under technical study. In June 2014 Agnico also optioned the early-stage Greyhound property near Meadowbank from Aura Silver.

28 June 2012drilling progress report▲ Good

Agnico-Eagle gave a 2012 exploration update: about $43 million spent January to May, a new Normeg zone found at Meliadine's Wesmeg deposit, and the Tiriganiaq bulk sample returned 13.5 g/t gold from 4,573 tonnes, about 6% more gold than the block model predicted. At Kittila the Rimpi zone was confirmed at depth, and a new Veta Flor zone was found at Pinos Altos. Full-year exploration spending is now expected at about $115 million, with Meliadine drilling extended two months into September 2012. The filing also lists a second press release on senior management changes, whose content is not included here.
