Brookside Energy's two Suttles wells are drilled; the joint frac is next, with no start date given

Brookside Energy has finished drilling Sabres and Whalers in Oklahoma's Anadarko Basin and now turns to fracture-stimulating both together, but it has not said when that starts or when sales begin.

Brookside Energy (ASX: BRK) is preparing to fracture-stimulate its two new Suttles pad wells in Oklahoma at the same time. The company has not said when that work will begin or when the wells will be turned to sales.

What happens next

On 3 September Brookside said drilling of Sabres and Whalers was complete, with full planned laterals in the target formations and the rig released. The company said it would progress preparations to complete both wells using a "zipper-frac" configuration, then turn them to sales. It has not reported flow rates or well costs.

The wells sit in the SWISH Area of Interest. Sabres targets the Sycamore Formation and reached about 14,200 feet total measured depth. Whalers targets the Woodford Formation. Brookside holds an approximate 70% working interest in both.

Why it matters

In the June quarter, Brookside's net production was 1,404 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/d), down from 1,495 the quarter before, with no new wells online. These are the first wells the company has drilled this year, so the frac results will show whether they can reverse that decline. The company reports a realised price of US$42.69 per BOE, up 38%.

The gross budget (AFE) is about US$18.5 million, which the company says is fully funded. Cash at 30 June was A$14.52 million, and a US$25 million facility is undrawn. Brookside also bought Lone Star's US oil and gas interests on 2 September for US$1.114 million, adding about 123 BOE/d, or roughly 9% of second-quarter production.

What it holds

The company's most recent reserve estimate is for SWISH, where it reports 3.3409 million barrels of oil (P50) at a 90% interest, stated in May 2025. Its other estimates are much older, dated between 2007 and 2014, and cover assets such as Big River, East Oklahoma and its Mississippian holdings.

What is uncertain

Until flow results arrive, the wells remain unproven additions to the company's production base.
