Final Shambesai holes include 54m at 2.9g/t gold from 233m in the deep western zone, which stays open. These last holes came after the program ended and will not be in the September resource update; they are follow-up targets.
Final Shambesai round includes 21m at 9.71g/t gold, extending the bonanza shear zone 80m from the earlier 33.7m at 10.74g/t hole, outside the 645koz resource. Resource update due this month, feasibility in the December quarter; rigs now at Obdilla, Ulugtau, Tashbulak.
12,535m Shambesai drilling is complete, with about 7,500m of results still to come by end September ahead of a resource update. Pum's 16 holes found only low-grade away from the discovery hole. Drilling started at Obdilla and Ulugtau; TEO under final ministerial review.
Bonanza hole of 33.7m at 10.74g/t gold, including 7.8m at 28.64g/t, from sulphide in a shear zone outside the 645koz resource. Drilling extended to 12,300m at Shambesai; feasibility including a resource upgrade due late 2011. Company says underground potential is being evaluated.
First 2011 results: 25m at 3.43g/t gold and 17.1m at 2.92g/t outside the resource, plus a Pum discovery hole of 8.9m at 2.89g/t, 3km away. Two non-core licences (Maly Naryn, Akbura) face revocation and are being appealed. Feasibility due third quarter.
Eight rigs (six diamond, two portable) start up to 20,000m of drilling in 2011, mostly at Shambesai, to lift the 1.13M oz resource. Exploration budget is up to $5M against cash above $11.3M. Feasibility and permitting said to be on track; production possible in 2012.
Scoping study for Shambesai oxide: 180,000oz over six years at US$250/oz cash cost, initial capex US$16.3M, pre-tax NPV US$59M at US$1,000 gold. Full feasibility study and permitting started, Perseus to give technical support. Resolves the scoping study thread; a scoping-level estimate, not a reserve.
Further Shambesai results include 41.5m at 2.06g/t and 23m at 2.40g/t gold in oxide outside the current resource, extending the zone about 50m south. Scoping study is expanded towards pre-feasibility to speed mining permit applications; results due November. Kyrgyz elections passed without incident.
First 2010 Shambesai results include 6m at 11.73g/t gold and 28m at 1.24g/t, all outside the 645,000-ounce resource. Company says this points to further extensions; zones stay open. Scoping study results expected in the September quarter.
Drilling has started at Shambesai with two rigs on a roughly 4,000m first phase testing oxide and western extensions. The company says civil unrest in southern Kyrgyzstan did not disrupt its projects west of Osh. Cash is $2.9M.
Shambesai resource upgraded 65% to 645,000 ounces (7.29Mt at 2.8g/t), 58% Indicated, from the 390,000-ounce maiden estimate. Total resource is now 1.13M ounces. Includes 330,000 ounces of oxide; mining studies accelerated and drilling due June 2010. Resolves the planned update.
Final Shambesai West results: 18m at 1.87g/t gold (including 7m at 4.04g/t) about 100m west of the resource, and 9.4m at 2.49g/t extending the southern limit. This completes reporting of the 2009 program; resource update due June quarter.
Final Shambesai infill results include 6.9m at 11.4g/t gold at depth beneath the 390,000-ounce resource, suggesting a possible new deeper zone. Zones remain open. Final western results and the resource update (June quarter) are still to come.
Metallurgical holes returned 36m at 6.32g/t and 8.7m at 16.8g/t gold, and oxide infill holes show oxide mineralisation is continuous over about 400m. This could expand the 170,000-ounce oxide resource. Final assays and a resource update are expected in 2010.
First Shambesai West results: 21m at 1.68g/t gold 100m west of the resource and 7.5m at 2.27g/t gold 1.1km west. This suggests the mineralised zone could extend beyond one kilometre west, though the company says geological controls are still being established.
Near-surface Shambesai infill holes returned 21m at 12.6g/t and 8.5m at 15.4g/t gold, with channel sampling of 26m at 6.79g/t. This could add to the 170,000-ounce oxide resource. 89 holes are drilled, 38 reported; final results are due in early 2010.
Shambesai drilling found 21.8m at 4.92g/t gold in the northern zone outside the 390,000-ounce resource, plus 23m at 4.09g/t from infill. The northern zone is confirmed over 85m of strike and could widen mineralisation beyond 300m. 59 of 99 planned holes are drilled.
Shambesai drilling found 35m at 2.24g/t gold outside the current resource on the northern side, plus 9m at 9.34g/t in the central zone. The company says this could widen the mineralised zone to over 300m and add to the 390,000-ounce resource.
Further Shambesai infill result of 20m at 6.40g/t gold, plus 8m at 2.15g/t on the southern margin suggesting extensions. 24 of a planned 99 holes are done and two metallurgical holes are about to start. Continues the strong run of results.
First Shambesai infill holes returned 21m at 8.75g/t and 31m at 4.26g/t gold, which the company says are significantly better than expected and likely to add to the 390,000-ounce resource. The first drill results due in August arrive, and they are strong.
Drilling restarted: two rigs at Tolubai (just under 1,000m) and three rigs mobilising to Shambesai for over 10,000m of infill and westward extension drilling. Goal is to lift the 875,000-ounce resource well beyond 1 million ounces.
Maiden Shambesai Inferred resource of 4.5Mt at 2.7g/t gold for 390,000 ounces, lifting Manas's total to 875,000 ounces (up 80%) with Obdilla's 485,000. Resolves the long-awaited estimate; 170,000 oz is near-surface oxide. Drilling starts by end of May.
New western Shambesai holes returned 21m at 3.62g/t and 14m at 3.16g/t gold; the western zone is over 200m wide and still open. Drill pads are ready 1km further west. The initial resource estimate is still pending, now described as first quarter 2009.
Final Shambesai infill results include 20.2m at 4.75g/t gold; drilling for the season is complete. Initial resource estimate remains scheduled for early 2009, with drilling to resume west of the current limits after winter.
First holes at the new Ulugtau prospect, about 40km from Shambesai, returned 10.8m at 13.2g/t gold. Manas calls it its third potentially significant discovery.
Further Shambesai drilling hit 11m at 29.7g/t gold from surface in the east, and 25m at 1.6g/t at depth in the west. Mineralisation now spans 1.2km, still open to the west and at depth.
New Shambesai drill holes returned 35m at 4.85g/t gold and 34m at 4.09g/t gold, extending mineralisation to 1km of strike, still open to the west. A resource estimate is targeted for early 2009.
