History
A small Vancouver explorer funded almost entirely by its chairman and insiders found gold-silver at Maestro's Prodigy zone and a copper porphyry at Jake, and was still drilling in July 2026.
2018-2021: A quiet shell
Quartz Mountain began 2018 as a small company looking for projects to buy. On January 3 it closed a $458,863 private placement to assess possible acquisitions and for general costs, and said its shares had been consolidated 1-for-10, cutting the count from 33,470,995 to about 3,347,099. Holders kept the same proportional stake.
The record then goes quiet until January 2020, when the company arranged a $500,000 placement of 4,545,455 units at $0.11, sold to insiders. Each unit carried one share and a five-year warrant. The filing said it would give Robert Dickinson a control position of about 43%, or 60% if warrants were exercised. Share numbers rose from 3,347,137 at the end of 2019 to 25,477,776 a year later. In February 2021 the company sold its 1% royalty on the Quartz Mountain Gold Property in Oregon, which it had kept when it sold the property to Seabridge Resources in 2001, for US$150,000.
2021-2023: Maestro and Jake, funded by insiders
By 2021 the company had bought the Maestro property near Houston, central BC, from Impala Capital Corp, and it also held the Jake copper-gold-silver property north of Smithers, bought from United Mineral Services. In October 2022 it arranged a $550,000 placement of 2,750,000 units at $0.20 with Robert and Matthew Dickinson, which would give them a control group of about 68% of voting shares. Lawyer Albert Basile joined the board. The company also corrected itself: the Maestro and Jake technical reports announced in June and September 2022 were not true NI 43-101 reports, the formal standard for public mining disclosure, because no triggering event had occurred. They were kept off SEDAR, the public filing system.
In October 2023 it raised $277,000 through a flow-through placement (a type whose tax benefits pass to investors) of 1,538,889 units at $0.18. Chairman Dickinson took 1,400,000. The money was for about 1,000 metres of core drilling at Maestro. Afterwards Dickinson would hold 54.9% of 46,403,030 shares, or 69.4% with associates.
2024: Discovery and a bigger raise
In April 2024 assays from the two Maestro holes showed that hole PR-23-02 cut 102 metres at 2.22 g/t gold and 104 g/t silver. The company called it a new discovery at Prodigy. The other hole had much lower grades. In June the company closed a $3.255 million placement of 9,300,000 shares at $0.35, far larger than its earlier raises. The Sutton Group took 6,000,000 shares and became an insider, and Dickinson took 3,300,000 flow-through shares. The money paid for the first drilling at Jake, which began in mid-June.
In January 2025 the company reported that the seven Jake holes, 3,418 m in all, had found a new copper-gold-silver porphyry system, a type of large, low-grade deposit. Hole JK24-05 cut 215.86 m at 0.32% copper equivalent. It had also acquired 100% of additional claims around Jake.
2025-2026: Delineation drilling at Prodigy
A $4.2 million placement of 10,000,000 units at $0.42 closed on March 19, 2025, about a month later than first expected. Each unit carried a share and half a warrant exercisable at $0.60. It lifted shares from 58,868,030 to roughly 68.9 million. Drilling began at Prodigy in April. In June, four Phase Two holes totalling 3,255 m all hit wide gold-silver intervals from near surface, including 603.4 m at 0.56 g/t gold equivalent, and cash stood at $3.6 million.
In November Phase Three assays reported hole PR25-13 at 123 m at 0.79 g/t and 315 m at 0.73 g/t gold equivalent, which the company called a newly discovered gold-rich porphyry system beneath the Prodigy zone. Drilling then totalled 8,346 m in 13 holes, and cash had fallen to $2.6 million. In March 2026, holders exercised 4,801,964 of the 5,000,000 warrants, raising about C$2.88 million and lifting working capital to about C$3.8 million.
On July 7, 2026 the company reported Phase Four results from eight holes totalling 4,366 m. Hole 26-14 cut 306.6 m at 0.54 g/t gold equivalent. The mineralized body was now about 600 m long, 100 to 200 m wide and up to 500 m deep, and Prodigy drilling totalled 12,951 m in 21 holes. Holes to the east also found broad molybdenum zones. Working capital was $2.6 million. No mineral resource had been established, and Phase Five was planned for September 2026, with permits for 37 more drill sites. Jake delineation drilling was still to follow after Maestro.
