GEOSOL contract signed for Novo Astro's first-ever drilling (21 holes, 2,500m) from late September. At Juruena, eight holes are done and JUDD008 hit visible gold, the second time after JUDD001. First assays expected within about 10 days.
Meteoric plans a 21-hole, 2,500m diamond program at Novo Astro from late September, after rock chips returned up to 290.13 g/t gold, above the historic 264 g/t. Four drill prospects are defined, with IP and magnetic surveys planned. Juruena assays are expected from mid-September.
Meteoric's first hole at Juruena, JUDD001, hit visible gold at 112.8m within a 16m wide alteration zone at Dona Maria, ending at 143.53m after a temporary halt for tool problems. No assays yet; results are expected in about four weeks. Novo Astro drilling is now expected mid-September.
Field work starts at Novo Astro, 30km east of Juruena, with 36 samples sent for assay and walk-up drill targets identified under old workings. Meteoric plans to send an extra rig there in late August; Novo Astro has never been drilled. Juruena drilling at Dona Maria is under way.
The first GEOSOL diamond rig is on site at Juruena, with drilling to start by 24 July at Dona Maria and a second rig due within the week. The 26-hole, 4,700m program should take about 3 months; first samples go to the lab in early August.
Meteoric completes the Juruena and Novo Astro acquisition from Crusader on the terms announced in March. Dr Tunks becomes full-time Managing Director on $276,000 a year, and heads to site to finalise drill plans for Dona Maria and Querosene.
Meteoric plans drilling at Juruena's Dona Maria and Querosene deposits (436,000t at 14.7 g/t, 205koz) to firm up inferred resources and extend them, expected to start in Q2. The text calls this a shift from greenfields exploration to resource definition. Acquisition not yet complete.
Joyce maiden drilling of four holes for 492m found only narrow mineralisation, best 1.845% copper over 0.61m. The MD says results do not support the surface sampling, with gold and cobalt low. Untested eastern targets remain. Fewer holes than the 8 planned.
A rig has been mobilised and the initial 8-hole, 500m diamond drill program started at Joyce on 11 January, targeting zones below massive sulphide outcrops. Results are expected in coming weeks. This starts the maiden drilling announced in November.
Modelling of the airborne EM survey (340 line-km) identifies 18 cobalt targets: 15 at Mulligan East and 3 at Iron Mask, taking the total to 29 across three projects. Environmental permit for Joyce approved; drilling expected early 2019.
Final airborne EM data and 3D modelling over Beauchamp (374 line-km) define 11 near-surface cobalt target areas, to be refined with geochemistry and ground geophysics. Mulligan East and Iron Mask modelling is due within a week; Joyce drilling is pushed to early 2019.
Joyce is named the top priority target, with a maiden 8-hole, 500m drill program to start imminently once approvals arrive. Final VTEM data for Iron Mask, Mulligan East and Beauchamp is delayed by the contractor. The company is also reviewing projects in other commodities and places.
3D modelling of 2012 airborne EM data at Joyce River defines nine conductor targets, 45-180m long, coincident with magnetic highs and outcropping massive sulphides. Rock chip sampling starts immediately. Management calls the Mulligan result disappointing but keeps its seven-project portfolio focus.
Mulligan maiden drilling, 11 holes for 970m, hit the targeted structures but found no major cobalt mineralisation. The company says the system lacks the scale and grade for modern mining and moves focus away from Mulligan to its other projects. It also flags unspecified, incomplete talks on further assets.
Airborne VTEM surveys have begun over Beauchamp, then Mulligan East and Iron Mask, 714 line-km in total, with completion expected within two weeks. This follows the 8 August contract announcement; results will be modelled in 3D to pick drill targets.
The maiden Mulligan program finished with 11 holes for 970m, fewer than the 16 holes and 1,570m planned. The text says it finished ahead of schedule and many holes hit the targeted faults and veins. Assays are due late September.
The drill rig has reached Mulligan and maiden drilling starts immediately: 16 holes, 1,570m, targeting seven geophysical anomalies and historic workings. The company expects two to three weeks of drilling, with assays to follow. Historic results are repeated.
Meteoric finalises a 16-hole, 1,570m maiden diamond drill program at its 100%-owned Mulligan cobalt project to test seven chargeable geophysical anomalies. Drilling contract award and site mobilisation are expected in the coming weeks, following the June survey.
The completed Mulligan IP, resistivity and magnetics survey (8.1 line km) identified multiple targets for cobalt-rich veins. The company says results exceeded expectations. Geologists are ground-truthing, with maiden drilling still on track for July 2018.
Assays from the maiden Midrim program confirm shallow high-grade copper-nickel-PGE: 22.1m at 2.38% Cu, 1.64% Ni and 2.56 g/t PGE from 28m in MR-17-01, plus 9.4m at 4.25% Cu. This follows the December drilling and confirms historical intercepts.
Mulligan mapping and sampling found soil anomalies up to 209ppm cobalt and 807ppb silver. The best grab sample is restated as 9.2% cobalt, against 9.71% earlier. A 100m-spaced IP survey is next, with drilling planned for H2 2018.
The first Midrim program finished: 15 holes for 2,270m, with thick massive sulphides (chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, pentlandite) in hole MR-17-01. No assay grades yet; results are expected early 2018. Down-hole EM was completed on 21 holes.
Rock-dump grab samples at Mulligan returned up to 9.71% cobalt, 16.5 g/t silver and 14.3 g/t gold, supporting the historic high-grade showing. Soil assays are due shortly; IP survey approval expected mid-late December.
Meteoric began its first drilling at Midrim: 10 diamond holes for 1,500m, mostly twinning and testing extensions to historical high-grade intercepts. Three old holes will be reamed for down-hole EM. Metallurgical results are expected later this quarter; the company says programs are fully funded.
Re-assaying of 188 samples from 9 historical Midrim holes broadly reproduced old results, e.g. 18.85m at 2.64% copper, 1.72% nickel from 17.6m. Historical copper was generally under-reported and nickel over-reported, so the company says care is needed before any resource work.
Work program at Midrim is underway: metallurgical testing, re-assaying of 9 historical holes (results imminent), and EM data reprocessing. A drill program is expected to start in Q4 2017. Describes planned work, with no new results.
Re-testing of Midrim's old drill core by XRF (portable scanner) confirmed historical grades, including 20.3m at 2.92% copper, 1.81% nickel and 2.68g/t platinum-palladium. These are historical results, not new drilling. Untested core will be assayed after the acquisition completes.
Due diligence on La Force, a nickel-copper project in Quebec that comes with the Cobalt Canada deal, verified the claims and found 3,500m of stored core never assayed. Historical drilling is valued at over AU$3.5m. Adds a fourth project to the acquisition; no new assays.
Due diligence on the Mulligan and Iron Mask cobalt claims in Ontario verified the claims, located the site of an historical 8-tonne bulk sample averaging 10% cobalt, and found old drill logs with up to 0.6% cobalt. Historical results only; no new assays.
Chalice's first Parakeet hole at Warrego North returned 8m at 1.74% copper and 0.42g/t gold from 249m, a discovery on ground Meteoric farmed out. The second hole hit no visible sulphide. A 3D IP survey is planned for July 2017 to guide follow-up drilling.
