First drilling at the new Bilatos prospect found lithium, including 24m @ 2.24% Li2O and 30m @ 1.11% Li2O. Core's initial interpretation is a single pegmatite over 800m long, still open. Seventeen other regional holes (Saffums, Annie, Sabine) had no significant lithium.
Carlton diamond drilling hit high-grade lithium, including 40.3m @ 1.53% Li2O and 30m @ 1.78% Li2O; 8 of 9 holes hit pegmatite. Core expects Carlton's resource (currently 3.02Mt @ 1.28%) to grow, with a Finniss resource update due Q2 2022. Plant EPC contractor Primero gained site access 1 March.
Deep drilling at BP33 returned strong results, including 57.35m @ 1.83% Li2O, and a southern extension was found beyond the current resource. Core expects the BP33 resource estimate to increase, with expanded drilling restarting in early Q2 2022.
Drilling at Ah Hoy returned thick lithium intercepts, such as 19m @ 1.21% Li2O, and Core says they likely support a maiden resource estimate in coming months. Far West results were more variable, with a best of 6m @ 1.79% Li2O.
Updated Stage 1 DFS lifts Ore Reserves 30% to 7.4Mt @ 1.3% Li2O, supporting an 8-year mine life. It shows initial capex of A$89M (up from US$50M in the 2019 DFS), pre-tax NPV8 of A$221M, 53% pre-tax IRR and 2-year payback. FID is targeted before end-2021 construction start.
Gold nuggets found at the new Toolebuc prospect extend the Far East gold trend at Bynoe from 1,600m to 2,500m. Core won a $134,810 NT grant, covering 50% of two ~350m diamond holes at Far East, and set up a dedicated gold team. Lithium remains the main focus.
Diamond drilling started at Finniss, with RC and RAB rigs to follow in June, as the start of Core's largest lithium campaign. Gold exploration at Bynoe has also restarted. No results yet.
Core set a new Exploration Target of 9.8-16.2Mt at 0.8-1.4% Li2O across seven prospects, on top of the existing 15Mt @ 1.3% resource. It is conceptual only, not a resource. NT approval to drill the acquisition leases was received.
Core signed drilling contracts for what it calls its largest exploration and resource campaign, with RC and diamond rigs due on site later in May. It aims to more than double resources and mine life; Leviathan drilling approval is still awaited.
A co-funded gravity survey with the NT Government mapped a 20km 'Grants Belt' of lithium pegmatites, running from Kings Table in the north to the Leviathan acquisition in the south. Core plans a large drilling campaign from May and says FID is targeted next quarter.
First shallow RAB drilling at Bynoe's Far East gold trend found gold along the whole 1,600m, best 10m @ 1.5g/t from 7m. About a third of 74 holes were above 0.5g/t. Holes average only 20m deep; early reconnaissance, with more drilling likely.
More Grants assays support the resource, including 31m @ 1.65% Li2O and 36m @ 1.34% Li2O. One hole hit about 55m of pegmatite outside the current resource, with assays awaited. A resource upgrade is expected next month and the updated DFS is now stated for Q2 2021.
Core finished its 2020 resource drilling at Grants, with three rigs. The only assay so far is 17m @ 1.51% Li2O, in line with the existing resource. More assays are due in January ahead of an updated resource; Core expects many Inferred tonnes to convert to Indicated.
Core found four new gold prospects along a 1,600m trend at Bynoe, with over 80 gold nuggets (up to 5g), soils to 32g/t and rock chips to 30g/t. Still surface sampling; a short first drilling test is planned before year end. Core says lithium remains its focus.
Rock chips at new Bynoe prospects returned up to 20g/t gold at Kellermeister, with Rosella samples above 1g/t. Based on only eight and two samples, so first-pass surface results, not drilling. Core says it remains focused on Finniss lithium.
Re-assaying old lithium soil samples found another Bynoe gold prospect, Piper North, with soil gold up to 536ppb over a 200m x 500m anomaly. Early surface sampling only, no drilling; it adds to Pickled Parrot and Covidicus West.
The second diamond rig is now drilling at Finniss, as the 4,000-5,000m resource expansion program continues at Grants and BP33. It is still expected to finish in November. No new drilling results are reported.
Visible gold was found at surface at Pickled Parrot, with soil gold now up to 1.9g/t and a vein system over 100m wide, 700m from the 106g/t Covidicus West sample. Still early surface sampling, not drilling.
Resource expansion drilling has restarted at Finniss, with the first diamond rig drilling and a second due within a week. The 4,000-5,000m program targets Grants and BP33 extensions and is due to finish in November. This fulfils the expected September start.
Rock chips at the new Covidicus West gold prospect at Bynoe assayed up to 106.5g/t, with visible gold seen, within a vein system at least 180m long. These are first-pass surface samples, not drilling. Core says it remains focused on Finniss lithium.
Re-assaying old lithium soil samples found a new gold prospect, Pickled Parrot, with soil gold up to 0.8g/t, and extended the Golden Boulder vein system to at least 400m long. These are early surface results, not drilling. Core says it is considering restructuring its gold and silver assets.
Further review of historic data at Adelaide River identifies three more gold prospects, with old rock chips up to 56.2 g/t. These are historic results, not new drilling. Core says its lithium construction-ready timeframe is unchanged.
A review of historic data at the Adelaide River gold application shows old rock-chip results up to 170 g/t gold at Possum. These are not new Core drilling. Core stays focused on lithium and plans fieldwork later this year.
Finniss Ore Reserve rises 159% to 5.7Mt, backing a 7-year mine life (roughly double the 2019 study's 3.5 years). It adds maiden underground reserves at BP33 and Carlton, with start-up capital said to be materially unchanged. Core targets FID in 2020.
Finniss resource rose 52% to 15Mt @ 1.3% Li2O (14.72Mt in the table). Measured and Indicated rose 150% to 7.62Mt @ 1.41%. An updated mine plan and Ore Reserve were due later in June.
Final BP33 gravity test work produced concentrate at 6.0% Li2O with 71% recovery and 0.42% iron. The 2019 feasibility study assumed 5.5% at 72% recovery. Results feed the feasibility study update due this quarter.
Carlton assays include 35m @ 1.32% Li2O and 32m @ 1.52% Li2O, outside the current resource. At least two pegmatite bodies are confirmed, open to the south and at depth. Core says a significant Carlton resource expansion and maiden reserve are due this quarter.
BP33 assays: 107m @ 1.70% Li2O (106.6m, estimated 40m true width), plus 19m @ 1.35% and 14m @ 1.02%, all outside the current resource. Confirms the December visual estimate. BP33 resource upgrade now planned for February; the updated feasibility study is due in the first half of 2020.
BP33 hole intersected 119m of pegmatite (105m strongly mineralised), outside the current resource and open at 400m depth. Resource and reserve upgrade is now planned for the March 2020 quarter. Mining Management Plan approval is taking longer than expected, and Core now aims to be development-ready as markets improve in 2020.
All six completed deep RC holes at Carlton hit spodumene pegmatite over 31m wide (up to 44m), extending it about 100m deeper and 100m south, plus a second body. Assays are due in about 3 weeks; core expects a maiden Carlton reserve and larger resource.
