History
Aura Minerals raised money through a July 2025 Nasdaq listing, then closed the MSG gold mine purchase, advanced Era Dorada and expanded Borborema's reserves to 1.5 million ounces.
2025: A US listing and a new mine
Aura Minerals' record in these beats opens in July 2025, when it closed a U.S. initial public offering of 8,100,510 shares at US$24.25 each. The shares began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker AUGO on July 16. Existing holders had no pre-emptive rights (no first claim on the new shares), so the issue added to the share count. Underwriters also held a 30-day option on up to 1,215,077 more shares, though the record does not confirm whether it was used. The money was earmarked for the cash payment on the Mineração Serra Grande (MSG) acquisition, for the Era Dorada and Matupá development projects, for exploration and for general costs. By year end the company had 83,789,223 shares on issue.
In September, Aura declared commercial production at its Borborema gold mine in Brazil. Its press release then listed only Nasdaq and B3, consistent with an exit from the Toronto exchange, although completion of that delisting was not confirmed. In early December it closed the MSG purchase, a gold mine in Goiás, Brazil. The price and terms are not visible in the filings seen.
December 2025-February 2026: Building Era Dorada and growing Borborema
On December 8, Aura published a feasibility study for Era Dorada, the Guatemalan project formerly called Cerro Blanco, which it acquired with Bluestone Resources in January 2025. It reported reserves of 1.75 million gold-equivalent ounces, about 111,000 ounces a year for the first four years, and initial capital cost of about US$382 million. The after-tax value was put at US$1,344.5 million, using a gold price of US$3,177 an ounce, with a 35.6% internal rate of return. The study assumed US$191 million of upfront debt to help fund construction.
In January 2026 Aura received the construction license for Era Dorada and began early works. On February 27 it filed a technical report for Borborema and said it had signed an agreement to relocate a road at the mine. That unlocked another 670 thousand ounces of reserves, bringing the total to 1.5 million ounces.
As of May 19, 2026, Aura was listed on Nasdaq and B3. Era Dorada's financing and construction, the Matupá development and the road relocation were still to be carried out.
