The Board approved on 7 May 2026 a proposed share buyback of up to $2.0bn, and the company has now set a shareholder general meeting for 23 July 2026 (record date 26 June 2026) to vote on it. The programme needs shareholder and any regulatory approvals, and the filing says it does not oblige the company to buy any particular number of shares and may be suspended or stopped at any time.

The pre-feasibility study estimates all-in sustaining costs of about $954/oz and project capital of about $3.6bn, with after-tax NPV (5%) of about $1.7bn at $2,715/oz gold and about $3.4bn at $3,500/oz. Management is due to seek Board approval in June 2026 to move to the feasibility study. This advances the Nevada development thread; it is not yet an approved build.

The deal adds the Reward project and the Bullfrog deposit next to AngloGold's existing Beatty District claims in Nevada, extending its Nevada build-out. AngloGold Ashanti agreed to sell the Mineração Serra Grande mine in Brazil to Aura Minerals for US$76m cash at closing (subject to working capital adjustments) plus a 3% net smelter returns participation paid quarterly. The company describes it as one of its higher-cost operations and its smallest by production (80koz in 2024). Closing is expected in Q3 2025, subject to Brazilian antitrust approval, completion of tailings facility decommissioning work, a transfer of certain subsidiaries out of the sold company and no material adverse event.
AngloGold Ashanti and Gold Fields agreed to pause talks on combining the Iduapriem and Tarkwa mines in Ghana, a joint venture first proposed in March 2023. The company says it has found changes to Iduapriem's standalone mine plan with potential to unlock significant additional value. This pauses the open thread on the proposed Ghana JV; the filing does not say it is cancelled.

AngloGold Ashanti agreed to sell Centamin West Africa Holdings, which holds the Doropo and ABC projects in Côte d'Ivoire it gained in the Centamin acquisition, to Resolute Mining. Doropo is valued at US$175m (US$150m cash in tranches of US$25m, US$50m and US$75m, plus either the Mansala project in Guinea or an extra US$25m cash if that deal cannot complete within 18 months). ABC brings a US$10m milestone on a 1.0Moz reserve plus a 2% royalty. The company says the sale is to sharpen its focus on its US operating assets and development projects. The sale was scheduled to complete 1 May 2025 with no conditions, while the Mansala acquisition (next to Siguiri) needs permit renewal and Guinea government approval within 18 months.

The Centamin scheme became effective and AngloGold Ashanti now owns all of Centamin's issued and to-be-issued share capital, completing the acquisition announced in September 2024. Centamin shareholders on the register at 10pm London time on 21 November 2024 receive US$0.125 in cash and 0.06983 new AngloGold shares per Centamin share. Centamin's London listing is due to be cancelled by 8.00 a.m. on 25 November 2024 and its Toronto delisting to take effect at 4.30 p.m. Toronto time that day. For AngloGold shareholders this means the new shares are issued to Centamin holders under the agreed ratio.
The Jersey Court approved the scheme for AngloGold Ashanti to buy Centamin, following Centamin shareholder approval on 28 October 2024. The scheme becomes effective once the court order is registered, expected 22 November 2024. Centamin shares stop trading on the London exchange after 21 November and on the Toronto exchange after 20 November. This moves the Centamin deal announced in September towards completion.

AngloGold Ashanti agreed a recommended deal to buy Centamin, owner of the Sukari gold mine in Egypt. Centamin shareholders would get 0.06983 new AngloGold shares plus $0.125 in cash per share, valuing Centamin at about £1.9bn (US$2.5bn) and each share at 163 pence, a premium of about 36.7% to its 9 September close. Existing AngloGold shareholders would own about 83.6% of the enlarged company, and the deal is expected to complete in Q4 2024 subject to Centamin shareholder votes, court sanction, regulatory approvals and an Egyptian condition. Sukari is stated to add about 450koz a year of production.

The company confirmed it will restate its FY2022 and H1 2023 accounts for the Obuasi deferred tax error, cutting FY2022 profit by a total of $65m (against up to about $113m flagged on 23 February, per the filing's wording). Full-year 2023 shows a loss attributable to shareholders of $235m (56 US cents per share) against a $233m profit in 2022. The production, cost and cash flow figures from 23 February are unchanged, and the AGM is set for 28 May 2024 in Denver. This resolves the earlier uncertainty over how large the error was.
AngloGold Ashanti reported that second-half 2023 gold output rose 15% over the first half to 1.388Moz (2.593Moz for the year), with free cash inflow of $314m in H2 versus an outflow of $205m in H1, and declared a 9.1Moz Inferred Resource at Merlin in Nevada, taking its Nevada gold resource to 16.6Moz. It also warned that its FY2022 and H1 2023 accounts should no longer be relied on, because of a possible error of up to about $146m in earnings in the Obuasi mine deferred tax asset; the error is non-cash and does not affect production, costs or cash flow, and talks with former auditor Ernst & Young continue.
