Redback 2 (Origin 67%) reached 3,966m, but pressure data could not be acquired from the Wagina reservoir because of hole conditions. The well is being cased and suspended for later completion and tie-in to Beharra Springs, allowing further assessment of the accumulation's size.
Beach Energy's weekly report shows Coonatie-17 (Origin 10.54%) reached 3,105m TD and is being cased and suspended as a future Permian gas producer. Coonatie-16 is drilling at 2,524m. Beach is moving to monthly drilling reports.
AWE's update repeats Origin's: Redback-2 running wireline logs at 3,966m after recovering the logging tool, 55m progress in the week. Wolf-1 still to follow. Nothing new.
Redback 2 reached total depth of 3,966m on 16 June after an unsuccessful wireline attempt due to difficult hole conditions. Wireline logs were being acquired on 17 June. No volumes or flow results yet.
Salamander spudded Tom Su Lua-1X in Block DBSCL-01 offshore southern Vietnam, part of the December 2009 farm-in where Origin earns 25%. Target depth is about 1,400m; mean gross pre-drill estimate is c. 60 million barrels of oil.
Redback 2 (Origin 67%) hit Wagina at 3,861m (3,664m sub-sea), but wireline logging was impeded by difficult hole conditions. Rig repairs were underway at 3,913m, 6m progress in the week. Gas result not yet confirmed.
AWE reports Redback-2 intersected the Wagina reservoir at 3,861m: about 14m thick and gas charged on initial log analysis. AWE calls it encouraging but says it is too early to comment on size or commercial significance. Origin holds 67%.
Redback 2 (Origin 67%, operator) was coring the basal Kockatea Shale at 3,808m on 27 May, above the Wagina target. Progress was 199m in the week. No results yet.
Redback 2 (Origin 67%, operator) was drilling at 3,609m on 20 May, 550m progress in the week. Target Wagina reservoir is 3,715m sub-sea. No results yet.
Salamander reported Bang Nouan-1 (Laos, Origin 30%) reached 3,400m. Up to 25m of potential gas pay was seen in the secondary Kuchinarai sandstone; the main Pha Nok Khao target zones were water-bearing. The well is suspended ahead of a test.
AWE's update repeats Origin's: Redback-2 drilling at 2,298m after casing at 2,049m, 288m progress in the week. Wolf-1 remains the next well. Nothing new.
AWE's update repeats Origin's: Redback-2 at 2,010m, 1,938m drilled in the week. It adds that Redback South-1 has since tested at a stabilised 11.5 million cubic feet a day, limited by test facilities, versus the earlier 38.4 peak.
Origin (67%, operator; AWE 33%) began drilling Redback 2 on 23 April 2010, onshore Perth Basin, targeting the Wagina reservoir at 3,715m sub-sea. It follows the Redback South-1 gas discovery of 2009. Result is not yet known.
AWE (33%) repeats Origin's news that Redback-2 has started drilling, to about 3,980m measured depth. It adds that Redback-1 (2004) missed the Wagina Sandstone, a shale core will be taken, and Wolf-1 is the next well. Nothing new on results.
Beach weekly report: Cooper-Eromanga drilling, including Origin's 10.54% Coonatie-16, remains suspended amid flood conditions and is not expected to resume until mid-April to mid-May. Nothing new for Origin.
Beach weekly report: Cooper Basin drilling, including Coonatie-16 (Origin 10.54%), stays suspended and is not expected to resume before 1 May, with mid-April to mid-May indicated. This delays pending Cooper well results.
Beach weekly report: Santos-operated Coonatie-16 (Origin 10.54%) still at 1,132m, waiting on weather. Cooper Basin drilling remains suspended after heavy rain. Nothing new for Origin.
Origin farmed out 50% of New Zealand Canterbury Basin permit PEP 38262 to Anadarko, which becomes operator and funds the first US$30m of an exploration well. The Carrack/Caravel prospect could hold over 500 million boe if hydrocarbons are found. Drilling is most likely in 2011.
Beach's weekly report: Santos-operated Coonatie-16 (Origin 10.54%) still at 1,132m, waiting on weather. Cooper Basin operations remain suspended after heavy rain. Nothing new for Origin.
Salamander, operator, spudded the Bang Nouan-1 gas exploration well in Laos's Savannakhet PSC, where Origin holds 30% under its December 2009 farm-in. The mean pre-drill resource estimate is about 1.1 Tcf, with a high-risk target and about 75 days to drill.
Rockhopper sidetrack testing finished: several sands were too tight to yield fluids, and two gave only filtrate and formation water. The well is being plugged and abandoned. Volumes will take some months to work out; commercial significance remains too early to call.
Innamincka (5%) forwarded Origin's 18 February Rockhopper update: testing complete, well being plugged and abandoned. Duplicate of the operator's release.
