Petrology confirms coarse flake graphite at Waddikee's Wilclo South, flakes averaging about 0.45mm. All 77 RC holes (7,307m) are drilled, and diamond drilling for metallurgical samples has started. Francis drilling follows; 13 more petrology results are due in 3-4 weeks.
RC drilling began at Waddikee, mainly at Wilclo South, where earlier holes gave 15m @ 16.3% graphitic carbon. Limited drilling at Francis and Argent. Expected to take 4-6 weeks, aiming for an inferred resource by mid-2013.
Ground EM survey shows a continuous conductor over 2km at Wilclo South, open at both ends. A 70-hole RC drilling program starts this week, mostly at Wilclo South, aiming for an inferred resource by mid-2013. Francis and Argent follow.
December mapping samples at Wilclo South assayed up to 13.6% graphitic carbon, with graphite now traced ~3.5km. Lacroma had a sample at 23.9% but the graphite is fine-grained. Drilling starts mid-February, aiming for an inferred resource by mid-2013.
The seven-hole Punt Hill program (6,875m) finished mid-December. Beyond the 75m @ 0.2% Cu in MMDD01, the remaining holes found no extensive mineralisation; Monax turns to other areas. Wilclo South graphite extends to ~2.5km, with RC drilling planned for early 2013.
First Punt Hill hole of the 2012 program (a re-entry of MMDD1) returned 75m @ 0.2% copper from 990m, including 10m @ 0.72% copper. Skarn alteration widens the prospective area. Four holes are done; the other three found no or weak mineralisation. Antofagasta funds the program.
Petrology and assays confirm coarse flake graphite at Wilclo South: a surface sample assayed 22.9% graphitic carbon and drill samples up to 29.9%. Monax plans 4-6 weeks of further testing before more drilling. This builds on the 29 August drill results.
Maiden Waddikee graphite drilling hit 15m @ 16.3% graphitic carbon and 9m @ 14.8% at Wilclo South, now the main focus. Lacroma gave 60m @ 6.6% (not considered economic). Balumbah, Cut Snake and Wilclo were weak, with no further work planned at Cut Snake or Wilclo.
Diamond drilling began at Punt Hill under the Antofagasta farm-in, funded by its US$2.5m budget. Seven to eight holes are planned from 14 identified sites, testing a skarn system well over 10km long.
Monax finished its maiden Waddikee graphite drilling. The release's figure for total metres was garbled and was corrected in the amended version issued the same day. Assays were still pending.
Petrology confirmed coarse flake graphite at Cut Snake, Wilclo and Wilclo South, with mean flake lengths of 0.5-0.8mm. Together with Argent and Balumbah, that makes five prospects with coarse flake graphite. Drilling is still under way.
Monax began its first graphite drilling at Waddikee: about 58 holes totalling 4,700m across seven priority targets, expected to take about four weeks. A follow-up program is planned for late 2012 after the cropping season.
New surface sampling found more coarse flake graphite at Cut Snake and Wilclo on Waddikee, with samples sent for assay. Maiden graphite drilling is now planned for late July or early August, and landowners have approved the drilling plans.

OM Manganese withdrew from the Waddikee farm-in without earning any interest, so Monax keeps 100% of the project. This ends the A$2m manganese/iron earn-in and leaves Monax free to pursue graphite and iron.
Further Waddikee rock samples assayed up to 19.84% carbon, and a new area north of Lacroma gave 13.94%. Re-assays of 136 manganese drill samples reached 3.45% carbon. Maiden graphite drilling is still being planned for later in 2012.
Waddikee drilling (45 holes, 2,306m) gave manganese up to 29% Mn in single metres at Polinga; Jamieson Tank best was 6m @ 12.4% Mn. No new thick high-grade body was reported, and graphite was hit in several holes.
Argent graphite samples assayed 10.24% to 16.04% carbon with flakes up to 2mm; Stanley returned 2.54%. Monax calls Argent a high priority target and is planning a maiden graphite drilling program.
A second coarse graphite site, at Balumbah on Waddikee, assayed 9.97% carbon with flakes up to 2mm. Monax says this gives confidence the area is prospective for graphite. Drill-hole sample results are due in 4-6 weeks.
Sampling at Waddikee's Argent and Stanley prospects found coarse graphite flakes up to 2mm, confirmed by petrology. Assays are pending, and an accelerated graphite program is planned with drilling in 2H 2012. Early-stage reconnaissance only.
Antofagasta approved up to US$2.5m for 2012 Punt Hill exploration, taking total spend to US$4m over the first two years; about US$1.5m is already spent. A MIMDAS survey starts in 4-8 weeks, with six to eight holes planned for 2H 2012.
Drilling began at Waddikee: 45 holes (2,250m) to test induced polarisation anomalies at Hodgins, Polinga and Jamieson Tank for manganese. Results are expected mid-May 2012. OM (Manganese) is earning 60% by funding A$2m over four years.
An induced polarisation survey found a significant anomaly at Polinga that may be a new manganese horizon. Drilling is planned for late February 2012. Earlier Polinga drilling had not defined a coherent body of manganese; best hole was 7m @ 15.24% Mn.
An induced polarisation survey started at the Jamieson Tank and Polinga manganese prospects at Waddikee, taking about three weeks. It will guide reverse circulation drilling in early 2012, funded under the OM (Manganese) farm-in.
Monax signed a South Australian copper exploration alliance with Antofagasta, extending the Punt Hill relationship. Antofagasta provides US$1m over two years, earns 51% on each project then up to 70% for a further US$4m, plus a US$3m success fee per project.
First Punt Hill hole OTDD01 hit basement at 432.1m, shallower than earlier holes; best assay so far is 9m @ 0.12% Cu. Hole finished at 639.5m, more assays due mid-December, and drilling has started at Target 6. A modest result.
Drilling started at Punt Hill: four holes totalling 3,200m on gravity targets, three on the shallower Yeltacowie tenement (EL 4548). Funded by Antofagasta under its farm-in; about 50 days, results late 2011 or early 2012.
Maiden drilling began at the Pretender Creek bauxite project in Queensland: about 180 holes across three 100% Monax tenements, previously sampled up to 44.5% Al2O3. It takes three to four weeks; results are due late 2011.
Marmota reported Melton Phase 2 results at the Miranda target: 9m @ 1.03% Cu including 1m @ 2.25% Cu in hole MIRDD08, with copper mineralisation over at least 1.3 km. A Phase 3 program is being considered with Monax (50% partner).
An IP geophysical survey has started over the Hodgins manganese prospect at Waddikee, to follow up hole HRC005's 52m @ 21.1% Mn and guide targeted drilling after the 2011 cropping season. OMM is still earning 60% by funding A$2m.
RC drilling began at Percyvale across four gold mining leases, up to 1,000m over about ten days, with results due mid-August. Earlier rock chips showed gold up to 608 g/t. Follows the January option renewal; first drilling there.
