Scimitar can earn 70% of the uranium rights in two Atomic Resources licences (440 sq km, about 30km south of Bennet Well) by spending $500,000 over three years, with a $100,000 minimum commitment. This lifts Yanrey to 2,307 sq km.
Final holes from the Yanrey program show mineralisation to the north-east of Bennet Well at 41-70m depth, best 1.9m @ 768 ppm eU3O8, over nearly 0.5 sq km. The company says the deposit is still open to the north, west and east.
The Yanrey program is complete (86 holes, 8,674m). Best results 2.1m @ 763 ppm and 3.2m @ 583 ppm eU3O8; five holes at the new palaeochannel 16km south hit best 0.8m @ 421 ppm. Company says it may expand the resource; no new figure.
Drilling has started at the 100%-owned Marree project (SA): 19 mud rotary holes, about 3,000m, over a 7km strike length of an interpreted palaeochannel. This is the Lake Frome drilling flagged for mid-2008; results are expected by September.
First results from the 8,000m Yanrey aircore program: 21 holes (2,481m) west of Bennet Well extend mineralisation, best 2.30m @ 1,023 ppm eU3O8. Oxidised sands suggest a possible redox front further down the channel. Follows last week's 4.8Mlb resource.
First JORC resource: Bennet Well, Yanrey, has an Inferred 4.8 million lb eU3O8 at 300ppm (150ppm cut-off) over 1.2 sq km. This resolves the long-awaited Hellman & Schofield estimate; the deposit remains open to the north and west.
Drilling restarts at Orange Creek (Amadeus, NT, 5,000m) after the earlier 12 holes (707m) were halted for hard ground; best gamma 0.45m @ 190 ppm eU3O8. An 8,000m Yanrey program has also started, alongside completed Eclipse aircore (207 holes, 4,386m) awaiting assays.
Scimitar is starting 10,000m of drilling in the Northern Territory, beginning with 6,000m of RC at Orange Creek in the Amadeus project, 25km south of the Angela and Pamela deposits now awarded to Paladin/Cameco. A 4,000m Eclipse aircore program follows.
The second REPTEM survey identified a new palaeochannel about 15km south of Bennet Well, where old CRAE drilling had best 1.85m @ 150 ppm and follow-up was never done. A drill program is expected to start in late March; EM now covers over 60% of Yanrey.
Hellman & Schofield have been hired to produce an initial resource estimate for Bennet Well, Yanrey, after 2007 drilling of 131 aircore, 8 mud rotary and 8 diamond holes. No resource figure yet; it is the step toward a first Scimitar resource. Core test work continues.
Eight diamond holes (857m) at Bennet Well are complete and correlate well with the earlier aircore holes, with best gamma results 1.74m @ 1,228 ppm (incl. 0.50m @ 3,542 ppm) eU3O8. Lab assays for disequilibrium are pending, resolving only part of the earlier open question.
A 4,000m aircore program has started at the 100%-owned Eclipse project (NT), next to the 670t U3O8 New Well deposit, following trial Tempest EM. Airborne radiometric/magnetic surveys are also under way. This follows the earlier Eclipse survey work; assays still to come.
The 12,312m Bennet Well aircore program at Yanrey is complete, with best new results 3.36m @ 1,052 ppm (incl. 2.20m @ 1,468 ppm) and 0.60m @ 2,273 ppm eU3O8. Of 118 holes, 19 hit high grade. Both zones remain open; a 1,000m diamond program has begun.
A 1,000m, roughly 12-hole diamond drilling program has started at Bennet Well after 184 aircore holes (19,215m). It will check assay grades against gamma estimates and gather geotechnical and permeability data. Note Manyingee's resource is quoted as 10,900 tonnes, down from 12,078.
A ground gravity survey (1,120 stations over 10 sq km) has started at the 80%-owned Beadell Project to test two EM anomalies, alongside a 412 line km TEMPEST EM survey. These are geophysical surveys, not drilling.
Drilling outlined a second high-grade zone at Bennet Well, 500m by 300m and open to the northwest and southeast, with intercepts such as 3.8m @ 1,392 ppm eU3O8. 103 holes (10,769m) are done; the program is expanded to about 12,000m.
Drilling extended the Bennet Well high-grade zone over 700m by 400m, with intercepts including 3.8m @ 1,309 ppm and 1.5m @ 2,497 ppm eU3O8. 63 holes are done and the program is expanded from 8,000m to 10,000m.
A second airborne EM (REPTEM) survey of about 755 line km over 730 sq km of Yanrey starts later in September, extending coverage 50km north and 25km south of Bennet Well to find more palaeochannels. It is a survey, not drilling.
First results from the infill program at Bennet Well returned high grades, including 3.6m @ 967 ppm eU3O8 (incl. 1.5m @ 1,800 ppm) and 0.5m @ 2,261 ppm. 26 holes (2,767m) are done of the 8,000m program, due to finish by end October.
An 8,000m, roughly 80-hole aircore program has started at Yanrey's Bennet Well, on 100x100m spacing over a 1x2km area. It tests continuity and seeks higher grades, following the earlier programs' best 2.5m @ 747 ppm eU3O8.
A 402 line km trial airborne EM survey has started at the Eclipse project (NT, 7,934 sq km), alongside radiometric and magnetic surveys planned for August and October. These are geophysical surveys, not drilling, and follow the earlier air core program.
The Marree REPTEM survey (1,507 line km) interpreted an extensive palaeodrainage to about 75m depth, up to 2.5km wide and over 20km long, trending northwest. It improves roll-front targets but is a preliminary geophysical result; further interpretation will refine drill targets.
Yanrey exploration drilling resumes with a 2,500m program targeting the Manyingee Channel and Bennet Channel. After April's program was cut short by hard ground, the company now plans to use a mud rotary rig.
A 1,507 line km airborne EM (REPTEM) survey is due to start in early June over the 100%-owned Marree project (SA, 2,697 sq km) to map palaeochannels and faults. This follows the West Lake Frome survey. It is a survey, not drilling.
Third Yanrey program was cut short at 1,350m by hard ground. Manyingee's three holes missed target depth; Bennet Well gave modest results, best 1.30m at 292 ppm eU3O8 and 1.05m at 496 ppm, extending mineralisation 1.2km north. Larger rig booked for July or earlier.
A 2,500m drilling program is set to start at Yanrey, targeting the Manyingee Channel next to Paladin's Manyingee deposit and deeper northern extensions of the Bennet Channel. This is the third program, following 4,666m drilled in 2006.
An airborne EM survey at the 100%-owned West Lake Frome project (SA) identified the same formations that host the Beverley and Beverley 4 Mile deposits, at depths of 50 to 230m. These are drill targets, not drill results; further interpretation continues to define targets.
Field mapping at the Mawson licence (EL3502, SA) found uranium-bearing granite bodies, with rock chips up to 850 ppm U. The area is about 10km from Marathon's Mt Gee resource. Ground surveys follow next quarter; this is surface sampling, not drilling.
The second Yanrey program (22 holes, 2,485m) expanded the mineralisation, best 1.75m at 695 ppm eU3O8 including 0.65m at 1,511 ppm at YNAC024. That hole sits 1km from other hits and may be a new area of higher grade needing more drilling. Grades are not yet lab-confirmed.
The second Yanrey drilling round, 2,500m, has begun. It targets northern extensions of Bennet Well mineralisation plus closer-spaced infill drilling around the earlier hits. This follows the 22-hole, 2,181m first program and the airborne EM survey that identified targets.
